Pharmacy Assistants are very relevant members of the healthcare providers’ chain in the retail pharmacy sector of Pharmacy practice in Nigeria. To this end, it is important that they are educated from time to time on drug handling and dispensing as well as continuously being counseled on the relevant advice to be given to the patients they see.
The Pharmacy Assistants Continuous Training (PACT) is therefore an initiative of Emzor to provide information and continuous enlightenment to the Pharmacy assistants on best practices in handling of medicines and customer satisfaction at the retail pharmacy shops. In addition the program seeks to empower participants with the knowledge to improve their capacity and understanding of basic disease conditions such as malaria.
The Abuja edition of this program held on the 19th of October, 2011 at the Royal Dream hotel, Maraba with over 50 participants in attendance.
The scope of the seminar included the burden of malaria in Nigeria, transmission, causes, symptoms of malaria as well as preventive measures like Insecticide Treated Nets, vector control and the treatment options with Artemisinin combination Therapies (ACTS) with particular emphasis on the rationale for the use of Lokmal- the Emzor brand of Artemeter /Lumefanthrine-, dosing regimen, presentations and the benefits.
The thrust of the presentation on importance of low dose aspirin –Emprin 75mg was on high blood pressure, signs and symptoms , the role of Emprin 75mg and the need to need to prevent heart attack with particular emphasis on the role of Emprin 75mg in prevention of heart attacks and the immense benefits.
The response from the participants was very enthusiastic and thanked the Emzor team for organizing such a forum. Each participant was presented with a certificate of participation at the end of the program.
